A Relaxed Newborn Family Session at Home in Brisbane

There’s something pretty special about photographing a brand-new baby at home.

No packing everyone into the car. No rushing out the door with a newborn, a toddler and approximately 47 things you suddenly need to bring with you. Just your family, your home and those very ordinary little moments that somehow become the ones you miss the most.

This relaxed newborn family session in Brisbane was exactly that.

Newborn photos don’t have to be perfectly posed

When I photograph newborn families, I’m not really interested in creating a perfectly posed version of your family.

I’d much rather document what life actually feels like in those early weeks.

The feeding breaks. The cuddles on the couch. Tiny fingers wrapped around yours. Big siblings wanting to be involved one minute and completely over it the next. A baby falling asleep in Mum’s arms. Someone needing a snack. Someone else needing a nappy change. It’s all part of it.

And honestly, that’s what makes these photographs yours.

For this Brisbane newborn photography session, we kept things simple and followed whatever was happening naturally. There was plenty of cuddling, plenty of connection and lots of those tiny newborn details that disappear far too quickly.

Thinking about an in-home newborn session?

If you’re expecting a baby or have recently welcomed your little one, I’d love to document this season for you.

Newborn sessions are best photographed within the first few weeks, but there’s no magic cut-off. Older babies can be just as wonderful to photograph — especially when they’re starting to become more alert, smiley and full of personality.

Your family doesn’t need to look perfect. You just need to be together.
